Some of the Best Sunscreens for Colorado’s High Elevation

best sunscreeens for Colorado

It’s our passion to care about your skin! And our clients know that skincare takes both your efforts at home with your home regimen and treatments here at Skin Deep to maintain the healthiest skin.

One question that we get a lot is about the best sunscreen to wear, especially at our high elevation here in Northern Colorado. We love getting this question because it means people are focusing on protecting their skin from the sun’s harmful rays! We’re so happy when you wear sunscreen—your skin is thanking you!

We celebrate any sunscreen you choose to wear, and in this blog, we will share some of the best sunscreens we carry for different occasions. Like any part of your skincare, choosing a sunscreen differs from person to person, depending on their skin needs.

Varieties of Sunscreens

At Skin Deep, we carry nearly 10 different sunscreens between all of the different product lines that we carry. We love each of them for different reasons. Here are some things to consider when you’re choosing a sunscreen. (And we’re more than happy to help with recommendations so don’t hesitate to ask next time you’re in for a treatment.)

  • Do you need waterproof coverage or not?

  • Are you looking for full-body coverage or just for your face?

  • Do you want a tinted sunscreen, so it goes on more like a foundation?

  • Do you have a preference between physical and chemical sunscreens?

  • What’s your skin type? Oily? Dry? Combination?

Your answers to these questions will help inform which sunscreens might be a good match.

And just a note to anyone new to Colorado, we’re at a much higher elevation than other places in the country. So you’ll notice that you get burned a lot more quickly here than at a lower elevation.

That’s because the sun’s rays are even more intense here, and even more so as you head up into the mountains and to enjoy Colorado at a higher elevation. So to any Colorado newbies, as we head into the summer, wearing sunscreen is even more important here, even if you’re someone who isn’t very prone to burning.

Sunscreens We Love (and for Which Situations?)

As we mentioned, we carry lots of sunscreens that are perfect for different occasions/needs. Some of them, like the Marini Physical Protectant Tinted, offer all-day coverage in a tinted formula, so it goes on like makeup. With tinted coverage, you’ll feel confident wearing it every day, whether you plan to go outside or not. Another amazing feature about the Jan Marini Physical Protectant line is that it comes in a variety of SPFs and amount of time of water-resistant coverage (for example, 40 minutes or 80 minutes), so you can choose a product that is going to fit your specific needs.

If you’re looking for all-body coverage, you might like Trilipiderm’s All-Body Moisture Retention Crème Broad Spectrum SPF 30. It’s long-lasting and easily absorbs into the skin. Vitamin D and omega fatty acids nourish the skin bringing that moisture retention piece to the product.

Another sunscreen we often recommend is the TiZO3 Primer/Sunscreen. This product is a mineral sunscreen, and it also offers a tint—meant to replace your foundation primer. It also enhances your skin with Vitamins C and E, and it’s reef-friendly, so it’s perfect if you’re going on vacation and will have the opportunity to go snorkeling.

Wear Sunscreen—Reduce Skin Damage

At the end of the day, any sunscreen you wear is going to reduce damage and signs of aging that come from sun exposure. Protecting your skin with sunscreen will reduce the appearance of fine lines, reduce sun spots or hyperpigmentation, and lower your risk of skin cancer.

We’ve got a sunscreen for every situation here at Skin Deep, so please just give us a call or come in to chat about which sunscreens will best meet your skincare needs.
